Profile Information
- Tell us a little bit about you for everyone to see
- I've had the honor to serve on the neighborhood board since around August of 2007 and humbly ask for your support as I once again run for service on this board.
I have taken either a leadership or co-leadership role in the following community issues/projects:
- Creation of a playground in Niu Valley (still in progress)
- Working with Niu Peninsula owners and the state to increase safety in the dangerous intersection.
- Investigating cost/benefits of the Honolulu Rail Project.
- Working with Aina Haina residents with respect to Arch II homes and neighborhood disturbances.
- Investigating various real estate development proposals for the Ka Iwi Shoreline.
-Initiated this social network (nboard2.com) for use by the community and Neighborhood Board #2
-Use my personal equipment to record and rebroadcast the audio from most NB#2 board meetings.
Below you will get an idea of my fundamental values and a history of my public service.
- I am married to my first wife and have two children. Married in 1992.
- There is such a thing as right and wrong, good and evil. It's important do to right, good things and always work to avoid wrong and evil things.
- My fundamental value compass which directs me to discern between right and wrong, is God. The Christian religion, while not perfect nor infallible, is the one I get the majority of my values from. The Hawaiian and Polynesian way has a profound influence on my environmental and spiritual values.
- Government is systemically inefficient and necessarily so. Therefore the only way to have an efficient government is to have a smaller one.
- Individuals and organizations are significantly better at spending their own money than government is at spending other people's money. Therefore lower taxes means more money better spent on issues that matter most to people.
- Distributed systems are inherently more resilient against failure and far better at adapting to changing conditions. Therefore, a decentralized government with decision-making pushed out to the edge of the network is more responsive to the needs of its constituents and more resilient against non-democratic manipulation.
